Continuing education has never been left behind at the University of Alicante (UA). In the recently launched project under the Lifelong Learning programme, UA gathered representatives from higher education institutions (HEI), Chamber of Commerce and industry from Spain, Austria and the United Kingdom on 18th and 19th December 2012 to discuss the forthcoming work at the main campus of UA.
The two-year project, GADGET – Good practice Pilot Action for Innovative Industries: Education, Training and Exploitation, focuses on the linkage between university and industry in the area of environment and energy. Throughout the project, mismatch between curriculum and real needs of labour market will be minimise and as a result, students’ employability will be enhanced. In addition, GADGET provides opportunities for working adults to improve their skills and competence.
The kick-off meeting gave an overview of both technical and financial aspect of the GADGET ensuring the conformity and understanding of all partners of the project’s aims and objectives, activities, and roles of each participant. In particular, the meeting focused on the upcoming activities of the first project year to discuss working methodologies and pending questions.
